Our dedication to our mission is our driving force and we will tenaciously carry it out.
We give of our time and resources to those who do not have the means to pay for services.
We come alongside those we serve with gentleness and grace.
We offer the tools to help those in our care succeed.
We remain honest in our business dealings and are intentional not to over commit our time or resources so that we can consistently follow through on our commitments.
We hold one another to the highest standards of integrity when it comes to rule of law and in our relationships with our clients, donors, and partners.
We don’t quit in the face of difficulty.
When Charity received her Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling in 2017, she was inspired to start her own coaching business with an emphasis on grief work using solution focused methods. Unfortunately, due to her own divorce in 2019, she decided to table her dream and find other work to make ends meet. Despite the pain and frustration of starting over after investing nearly 8 years in her education, she reinvented her career and, thanks to the generous hearts of those in her support system, she was able to land on her feet and find stability again.
Inspired by this generosity and by her own passion to empower others, Charity founded Her Own Sweet Home in 2023 so that other women will have the resources they need to overcome the trauma of divorce, find healing, and re-establish their stability. Having experienced the effects of unhealed trauma on one's personal and professional life due to the expense of therapy, Charity is passionate about providing a way for women to access services at minimal to no cost to them.
"Removing the financial barrier is essential so the women in our care can focus on their healing process and on caring for those in their own care. After all, it is through healed hearts that we love best and are most authentic. It is in that state that we give at our best--because we are loving and giving with our most healed, most authentic selves." - Charity Kelsey
Meet Abigail (she/her), a native Nashvillian, therapist in training, and Her OWN Sweet Home's Board Secretary!
With a background in psychology and social work, Abigail has dedicated nearly 20 years to international aid work and transformation coaching across four continents, partnering with various organizations and nonprofits to bring refugee support, housing, holistic education, organically farmed food, clean water, meditation training, and body-mind literacy to the most vulnerable and impoverished communities.
Abigail's partnership with HOSH is inner alchemy at work. By helping women navigate divorce with the solidarity, support, safety, and services needed to reclaim their power, emotional freedom, and financial and physical autonomy, she is transforming the pain of her own divorce into purpose, her wounds into wisdom, and her struggles into strengths.
Abigail's "happily even after" divorce story is one of post-traumatic growth and an unraveling testament to the transformative power of self-compassion, radical honesty, religious deconstruction, self-authorship, and access to the right support systems.
